Digimon Card Battle 15- Team Competition Part 3 with MetalGarurumon (Black) Preview from Booster Set 5

Digimon Card Battle is back with episode 15.

This week Digimon Card Battle continues the team competition. Nearly everyone who appears on Digimon Card Battle with any regularity is taking part.



The main focus of this episode is the third competition match...

​

Before each match they go over some of their cards and other details.

The third competition match is between co-host Yamadeya (from Cocolo) and Sayaka.



And after the match we get a preview of a new card during the post match housekeeping (going over products, etc.)

It's another good looking card from Booster Set 5 Battle of Omega.

This time it's MetalGarurumon (Black)! Labeled as a standard MetalGarurumon card (as most of his stuff is), this features dynamic art of MetalGarurumon (Black) battling WarGreymon. There is some really nice perspective/depth work here.

Also, I went ahead and did some minor cleanup on the video noise to the card.

Man, that battle was sloooooow. It took till like Turn 13 for someone to attack.

Anyways, is this the first (non-Promo) BlackMetalGarurumon? Really loving the art there of him fighting regular WarGreymon.

Some digimon are visually different, but digimon like Growmon (orange) confused me at first. Haha.

That's pretty much every Digimon TCG. Even BlackWarGreymon was just WarGreymon in the original card game. It allowed them all to share evolutions. So if a card listed "Agumon" as an evolution; Agumon, BlackAgumon, Agumon 2006, and Agumon X could all be used.

Huh MetalGarurumon (Black) vs Wargreymon? That's pretty rare. It makes me wonder if it's possible to jogress with one black to evolve into Omegamon only with one other arm colored black like a certain Kamen Rider.

It's been a while, but I believe it's entirely 02's fault that Black is officially a part of Blackwargreymon's name.

I don't want to believe it that way. I mean, BlackWarGreymon is not the only digimon that has "Black" as part of its name.

The others that did it followed his trend. They did it cuz he did.
BWG originally didn't even have his own attacks, he shared WarGreymon's. The anime differentiated him a lot which then paved the way for future recolours.

I mean, the Black in BlackWarGreymon is part of the name, while the Black in MetalGarurumon (Black) is an additional info, that virus species of MetalGarurumon will still be called just MetalGarurumon unlike BlackWarGreymon.
It varies how digimon are named. There's always the first one, and for the digimon with Black that's part of their name, BlackWarGreymon is arguably the first one to be introduced.
