This is really exciting! Essentially, it's Rumble Arena 3 but they ditched the 2D gameplay. Thinking about what the final roster is

you just made my day you know that? I never would have imagined after all this time a triple a digimon game and damn it looks good!

Some are saying that the graphics are not really up-to-standards. I partially agree, but it's not something I am really bothered. I'm curious to see the final roster. And hopefully, we'll get to see proper evolutions (Child > Adult > Perfect > Ultimate) for those who have it. I believe Hououmon is playable, probably as Biyomon's Ultimate form.

Well, it certainly uses "Digi-" enough. Is this the first time a Digimon game has been made specifically for a Western audience?

Rumble Arena 2 and digimon racing where made by a western dev and I think targeted more towards the western market but I could be wrong

Wasn't Rumble Arena 2 just a localization of Battle Chronicle? I have played both of them.

Both of those games had Japanese versions, yeah. This might be the first Digimon game (besides the MMOs) without a Japanese version.

looks interesting, but seriously it seems more like a cash-grab cheap party game, especially since don't even bother releasing it on current gen consoles (that PS3 is 8 years old already, that makes me feel really old...)
I might get some fun out of it If the combat system is good enough. from the trailer it doesn't look too bad in that regard, combos, air-juggling, chargeable attacks; I just hope that there is at least some ceiling involved and not just button mashing.

but man, you really notice it's an last last gen game when all the textures look like some kind of cheap plastic. All in all this just seemslike something released a few years too late...

I saw localize on the ANN post and was like yay! Then it wasn't any RPG game... Now its not even Japanese... I am beyond disappointed. You just know sales based on this are probably influencing any decision to bring over other Digimon games... Itsgoing to be viewed as a niche fighter and everyone will wait for a price drop leading to poor sales... I can't erase the nightmare that is this game even though I will give it a shot and probably enjoy it.. But mainstream won't.

Well, it is at least something nice for the West :)

I just think it is a bit sad, that half of the character slots seem to be used up by Adventure Digimon. I wish they had decided to take two Digimon out of each generation.

It was the same with Battle Chronicle. Adventure gets all the cool stuff. Where are the novelizations and video game adaptations for other series?

Yep, I also don't think it's fair. Most post-Tamers games tend to use this trend, which make got me a bit sick about that. Like KaenKazui, I also wish that they had decided to take two Digimon per season, one the hero's, the other the rival's, thought that way Tamers fan would got mad because there would be Guilmon and Renamon but no Terriermon. Well, maybe Guilmon and Impmon would do well.

Yeah. Still waiting for a Digimon Tamers PSV game ;____;

But yeah, especially with those fighting games it is kinda sad, considering that it would not add a terrible lot of work to add some more characters, so everyone could have like 2 or 3 mons from each season. (Like Agumon, Gabumon, Piyomon for Adventure, V-mon, Wormmon, Tailmon for 02, Guilmon, Terriermon, Renamon for Tamers, Flamon and Strabimon for Frontier, Agumon06, Gaomon and Lalamon for Savers and maybe Shoutmon, Dorulumon and Gumdramon for Xros Wars. And maybe V-dramon and Dorumon to include the Manga :p) One could even just have two normally and have the third as DLC or stuff...

Well, that's the very reason I made this thread: http://withthewill.net/threads/1418...Digimon-Game-What-Digimon-Game-Would-You-Make

At that time during Savers era, I wished that there would be a Digimon fighting game featuring main Digimon from all 5 seasons without too much Adventure-era Digimon. My dream base characters were:
1. Agumon -> Greymon -> KaiserGreymon
2. Gabumon -> Garurumon -> MagnaGarurumon
3. V-mon -> XV-mon -> Magnamon
4. Wormmon -> Stingmon -> Imperialdramon --> Fighter Mode
5. Patamon -> Angemon -> Seraphimon
6. Tailmon -> Angewomon -> Orphanimon
7. Lopmon -> Antylamon -> Cherubimon
8. Guilmon -> Growmon -> Dukemon --> Crimson Mode
9. Gaomon -> Gaogamon -> MirageGaogamon --> Burst Mode
I even made a fan-fic based on that, thought I got permanent (?) writer-block in the sixth chapter.
*Looks like I should have posted this in the thread I mentioned above instead.

Well, let's back to topic:
Other than Battle Chronicle, Digimon Racing also focuses heavily on Adventure, as well as the new Digimon game featuring Hackmon. If only other seasons can have their own game, like Power Rangers can. Well, at least my most favorite season Frontier has got Battle Spirits 2.

Well, this is unexpected...

It probably is a test of Western interest. Not the best way to do it, but not the worst.

Off the screenshots linked in that article, we can guess eight of the twelve: Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Gatomon, Veemon, Shoutmon, and Dorulumon. Yes, that is a bit Adventure heavy, but consider the alternative. If the parameter was "two per series", history suggests it would have been Agumon, Veemon, Guilmon, Agnimon, the other Agumon, Shoutmon, Gabumon, Wolfmon, Gaomon, Dorulumon, either Renamon or Terriermon depending on who made the decision, and I have no clue who the twelfth would be. While "neither" would be better, given the choice of "mostly Adventure" or "mostly dragons and dogs", the former is a less-severe mistake.

Though I do hope Terriermon is among the unrevealed characters. There's no good reason not to include him.

Well another game I won't buy as I don't own either system. Rather disappointed tbh at this news. Like some others have said, hope it isn't the 'big' news.

Not gonna lie I almost had a heart attack when I saw the trailer. Just the fact that they're making a new rumble arena game is just... :')

Agreed. But I'm happy because I am not buying an XBox One or PS4

The way I see it, we have 4 adventure, 2 Zero02, 2 Fusion.
One source says 12 base with a total of 32 after evolutions which is odd because it seems like some with get 2 evolutions and some will get just 1.
With only four base digimon to be revealed it's really hard to guess. We can probably rule out Gumdramon because Hunters has yet to make its western debut.
But we can probably expect at least one digimon each from Savers and Tamers because footage was used from the show. So my guess is:
Agumon 06
Gaomon
Guilmon
Terriermon
That would mean 2 digimon from 4 seasons and 4 digimon from the first season with Frontier being the only not represented. My (plausible) hope is:

Gaomon
Guilmon
Terriermon
Renamon

I agree. I appreciate Biyomon and Tentomon! And Gatomon (like in rumble arena) is probably being used more or less as an adventure 2 digimon.

And hey! Does anyone else find it strange that Hououmon is featured in this game? I'm surprised because it didn't make an anime appearance as Biyomon's evolution, Garudamon would've been much cooler, popular (in my opninion), and recognizable, and if Hououmon is in, why MegaKabuterimon instead of HerakleKabuterimon??
