One thing, "subtle" isn't the right word. I don't think at all that the staff was trying to imply a kiss.

The scene is just about Takeru trying to support Hikari.

Technically it is. I 100% agree that they weren't trying to imply a kiss. But I'm saying if they were trying to convey that, then cutting away from it would be subtle (or certainly more subtle), where as directly showing it would be overt. The reason I put subtle in quotes initially is because they didn't actually kiss.

Seki Hiromi is the producer of the sequel movie so it's save to say that Takari, Koumi or whatever ship beside her canon ships will never even have a slightly chance. Disappointed but not surprised. I wasted all those years for nothing - I guess it's really time to move on.

Except for everybody who already ships Davis. It's really only Iori who lacks ship options.

Rina has actually been able to be in three different universes (Re digitise, Cyber Sleuth and Next Order) so far so I guess it's technically possible. Meicoomon also showed up in the Next Order universe so Adventure -> Next Order has happened before
