Digimon "02" Announced at DigiFes

"02" was announced at DigiFes and we have a teaser trailer, which has English subtitles.

The trailer is narrated by Daisuke. Since it's subtitled, we'll let you watch it to see what story elements are teased.


Tomohisa Taguchi is directing again and Akatsuki Yamatoya is writing again, so two of the core members from Kizuna are back.

"Target" is the best Wada song, which is an incredibly difficult thing to say when he is concerned. But that teaser just swelled up so much emotion in me that I don't think anything else would, even some type of Tamers announcement with "The Biggest Dreamer" playing. Adequately hyped!

I don't think he could have possibly been serious about that, since Daigo's team was active before she was even born.

I wouldn't put it past Toei to gloss over the 02 cast even in a 02 movie and just focus solely on Daiskue and this "first person to ever partner with a Digimon"
To make matter worse, I'm extremely easy to please. Just give me Valkyriemon and SlashAngemon, or some other Ultimate for Armadimon that isn't Vikemon, and I'd be satisfied.
But I feel like they won't even do that. I mean, how are Hawkmon and Armadimon even going to Evolve anymore? Hikari and Takeru have their Crest power back, Jogress isn't necessary for them anymore, but Hawkmon and Armadimon can't go above Perfect without it. Hell, are Patamon and Tailmon even around anymore? I can't remember if they disappeared like the other Adventure partners.

If they haven't guess they could use the whole Kizuna timer thing thought. Maybe something like "Maybe if we Jogress, the timer wont run out so quicky."

Honestly this is what makes a problem for Digimon, if this is a sequel what about the 01 cast? Is it going to be like 02 series where they didn't make 01 cast involved that much.

...? But we knew that was him screwing around already. The dates on when the first partner would have been a thing don't match up to the Adventure movie.

No. Daigo team appear after the Hikarigaoka incident. Daigo and Maki aren't so old.

The Adventure novel mentioned the contact between humans and Digimon started with the Hikarigaoka incident. Yagami siblings meeting Koromon started the idea for the chosen children.

In Digital World time, the Hikarigaoka event should be centuries before Taichi team adventures.

That's literally impossible. Daigo was in the Digital World when he was, like, 10. Hikari met Botamon when she was 3. By the time Kizuna comes around Hikari is barely out of high school, yet Daigo has a government position, no way he's only 26

I don't remember Kizuna very well, but IIRC, Menoa was an independent researcher, not a government employee, which I would assume would have a totally different set of requirements.

We also know for a fact that Daigo was not a prodigy like Menoa, as we see him in high school, which Menoa skipped entirely, starting collage at 14.

it makes the timeline a pain but there is canonically a rule that the number of digidestined doubles each year (1 in ‘95, 2 in ‘96, 4 in ‘97 etc), and that as well as the adventure 8 there were 8 other digidestined in ‘99 (daigo’s group, menoa, willis, and someone who’s never been mentioned)

willis also says he met gummymon and chocomon in ‘95 which makes him the first digidestined

also also, it means daigo’s group became digidestined no earlier than ‘98, and one of them may have become one earlier than the rest of the group (maki?)

presumably this new kid only counts as a tamer and not a digidestined since they don’t have a digivice and it screws things up even worse if they are digidestined

There are many things I want to see in the movie. Omegamon appeared in Kizuna, I hope we can see Magnamon in "02". I don't know which digimon will get new evolution beside Daisuke but whatever the decision I hope it's worth waiting.

If this movie thingy is a pattern. I hope every series after this will get closure movies.
Adventure with Kizuna, Adv 02 with 02, Tamers with (...), Frontier with (...), and so on.
with a whole new series, like Ghost Game, in between.
