DarkKnightmon X Preview for Booster Set 10

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set 10 Xros Encounter. This time it's DarkKnightmon X.

DarkKnightmon X gets some really cool looking artwork, that uses his design in a pose with detailing that feels reminiscent of a number of different mech anime, which lines up nicely with a Xros Wars themed set.

Dual Purple is interesting (it’s probably because its Reference Book profile states it wants to join the Seven Demon Lords), and I would’ve expected it as a Secret if anything, but Super is good

This card has a lot of synergy with the BT10-080 SkullBaluchimon card in this set (of course, synergy with regular DarkKnightmon too), which seems intentional.

Based on his effect, the Nene Tamer card seems like it'll have an On Deletion effect.

Still weird that his mega form has to come from an x counterpart as one of the two Digimon who gain a level from x evolving. Better than his mega being bagramon though but I do wonder what they'll do in games in that regard if they don't use x Digimon. I guess just bagramon

This art looks a hell of a lot better than his regular art looks super badass here and has a lot of personality

They could still use odd one X Antibody Digimon in a game which otherwise doesn't have any others. There's a precedent for it with Thunderballmon X in World Championship at least. DarkKnightmon X appearing would be even less weird than that really.

There're so many they can use for DarkKnightmon's evolution; SuperDarkKnightmon, GreyKnightsmon, DarkKnightmon (Bagramon), and my personal favorite, Tactimon.

DarkKnightmon itself isn't exactly a 'proper' evolution. He's a Digi-Xros. It's just that DeadlyAxemon's aesthetic is so cohesive with SkullKnightmon that it doesn't feel like a Xros (the most out-of-place element is probably the shoulder axe).

As mentioned by someone else, there are plenty of Xroses that work reasonably well as an 'evolution' for DarkKnightmon (if we're ignoring the names, my favorite would be Shoutmon X3SD).
In fact, it's likely that half the reason they made DarkKnightmon X an Ultimate-level is so he could evolve into DarknessBagramon (who was an Ultimate+ in the Digimon X ver.2).

Darkknightmon+Bagramon > Bagramon Darkness Mode is presumabley the "canon" evolution for him outside of getting the X-antiobody.

As of right now, only one of these is actually possible in any Digimon media. That being Crainummon.

Personally, I'm still a bit disappointed they didn't give it an exclusive canonic mega in Adventure 2020 when it was fighting WarGreymon.

I'm not sure how this is covered in any media, and I'm also aware that Dobermon and Cerberusmon are often seen as the most probable line...

But in my opinion, Plutomon is the perfect Mega for Axeknightmon?!

I don't care about desires like that, I prefer things that, you know, can become a bunch of things, because that's actually interesting.

Because if we're really going to say "Darkknightmon NEEDS an evolution specifically designed to be for it," then where the hell was that for the original Knightmon that predates it by over a decade? You can say the Royal Knights, but I can use your own counterargument against you on that just like you can on me, and none of those visually follow up on the idea of a Western Knight anyway.

I said I think DarkKnightmon should have a proper evolution, you’re not gonna change my mind, so deal with it.

Because if we're really going to say "Darkknightmon NEEDS an evolution specifically designed to be for it," then where the hell was that for the original Knightmon that predates it by over a decade? You can say the Royal Knights, but I can use your own counterargument against you on that just like you can on me, and none of those visually follow up on the idea of a Western Knight anyway.

1 - LordKnightmon is clearly supposed to be Knightmon’s Mega.
2 - Despite being it’s evil counterpart, DarkKnightmon is almost always depicted as superior and more important than Knightmon. The latter is just your average Perfect-Level while in Xros Wars DarkKnightmon is Baguramon’s brother and one of the main antagonists of the season, in Adventure 2020 it is the corrupted form of Tailmon, one of the Holy Digimon, and in Chronicle X it fought Barbamon before even receiving the X-Antibody.
3 - I wouldn’t mind another Mega for Knightmon which would fit it’s design better than LordKnightmon, either. So, it’s a pointless debate.
