With Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna out today digitally, perfect time for a contest!

The Blu-ray and DVD releases of the film are out next week in the USA, and we have a few copies to give away! And the movie is actually part of a larger prize package!

Five people will win:
A copy of the Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna Blu-ray Combo Pack (contains the movie on Blu-ray and DVD)
A Kizuna T-shirt
A Digimon water bottle
A Digimon Funko Pop (random)

We'll do a contest theme that's pretty standard for us. You can do either of the following:

Method 1- Write about... anything related to Kizuna. Are you looking forward to the movie? Or maybe you have memories of Adventure from 20 years ago and are looking forward to the movie now? Maybe a character meant something to you and you are looking forward to seeing them again (or saw the movie already and you want to talk about seeing the character again, etc.) Whatever you want to write about, long or short, as long as it involves Kizuna in some fashion.

and/or

Method 2- Do something artsy related to Kizuna. Draw, cosplay, do a craft, make a diorama, etc., whatever you want, as long as it has something to do with Kizuna in some fashion.

You can enter either way, or both if you are feeling inspired (and if you want to go to the effort you can enter multiple times, but you can only win once.) The winners will be chosen from a combined pool of both types of entries.

The judge will be me. You can post your entry in this thread, PM me using our forum's internal PM system, send your entry to @WithTheWill on Twitter (be careful doing the writing contest on Twitter... it'll be really short), or email me your entry to godofchaos@gmail.com (put WtW Contest in the subject for email entries for clarity.) As long as you are sure I'll get it, feel free to send it as you wish.

I won't be judging on any particular detail (or even necessarily on the quality of art or writing), just do your best. If it catches my attention you might have an advantage, but I'll be pouring over each and every entry.

The contest will end midnight on Monday, October 5th (so right as it becomes the 6th.)

You don't have to send any personal information with your entry. If you win Shout Factory will need your contact/shipping information to get you your Blu-ray and prize pack.

Your entry might be shared on WtW and social media sites by us, Shout Factory, or other companies related to the release.

These contests are only open to those with a shipping address in the USA.

Big thanks to Shout! Factory, Toei Animation and their partners Atsuko, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Funko, and Just Funky for providing these awesome prizes.

Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

The US Blu-ray and DVD release of Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna is currently scheduled for next week, on October 6th and is up for pre-order at Amazon: (affiliate link)

tbh I had some mixed feelings when I heard Kizuna get announced. With the way the Tri movies ended, I wasn't sure another movie so soon was what these characters needed. But it's been a while since that initial announcement, and I must say I've become at least somewhat more open to what the movie can offer. With the original Adventure kids, we've seen them literally grow up over the years, so to see them at yet another unique point in their life is always interesting to see. Not sure if this will be the case, but I'd *hope* the partner digimon themselves show signs of at least somewhat maturing over those years as well. The whole dynamic of one friend growing while the other is inexplicably frozen in place is sad to think about, which I guess is good from a storytelling standpoint, but I'd like to hope they go in a different direction for the digimon this time around.

I was hoping and excited to actually see Kizuna in theater at the beginning of the year, but that was before the pandemic hit the states. Though the wait got extended by many months, it actually gave me more time to get my girlfriend into the series. I started with showing her the first digimon movie, which she loved, and we are now watching the series from the beginning! This will only be the second anime series that I have ever rewatched!

I was really wanting to see this but missed out when it first came out so I had rewatched all of Digimon: Adventure, Digimon 02, Digimon The Movie, and Digimon Tri so I could be caught up and it had been years since I had watched it and I had forgotten how much I loved the series and the characters.

I can remember the day my aunt came over and gave me and my cousin the first Digimon Vpet. It was weird, but I liked the competitive nature and it had monsters. I’m sure it got lost on some adventure of my own, but I will never forget the path it sent me down and how it changed me forever. Fast forward over twenty years later, as I sit here my daughter wants me to read her a book. I want to reach over and pull the tag out of my 20th anniversary Vpet, and start a new adventure but my one and a half year old needs me. Kizuna much like my life is a story that has aged with me, I was younger than the kids in the show by a little bit when it started, and now...I am a lot of bit older than them. My interest waxed and waned over the years but it was always there for me when I came back around, and I always have come back around. Ultimately even though it is a lifetime away now, and maybe my adventure gives way to my daughters new adventures, it is never goodbye quite like you would think. What will we do tomorrow? I can’t say for certain, but I am excited to find out, and I know when I do get the chance to pull the tab back out of my friend it will take me to a place I love, but never have forgotten.

Digimon has always had a very special place in my heart due to its rich cast of characters, and the one I first latched onto was Matt/Yamato. This was likely due to being very shy myself, as well as the strong bond I had (and still have) with my sister. Seeing him overcome his own insecurities and coming to realize the importance of the relationships around him really struck a chord with me, and I loved seeing how much more confident he became in 02. Over the following years I thought his story was over, but then we got tri.

I'm one of those that overall enjoyed tri, and a large part of that is due to Yamato. Having gone through a lot since when 02 aired, seeing him struggling with the people around him changing was another aspect I was able to relate to, but what I most enjoyed was seeing how he tried to deal with that. I loved that even though he didn't understand the changes, once he accepted that they were there to stay, he became proactive in trying to support them in what ways he could. This let the confidence he'd grown in 02 really shine in a way that when he took up Taichi's goggles, it felt natural for him to be in that leadership role.

Going into Kizuna, I was curious to see where he had gone from there, and as a long time fan of the character, I felt like a proud mom by the end. Seeing him step up and take action in the way he did felt like a natural progression from where he was in tri, while seeing him rail against the unfairness of the unexpected twist in their "Digidestined contract" showed that while he was older and wiser, it didn't mean his core personality had changed. And in the end I was looking at a character that I recognized as the one I loved as a kid, but I could clearly see the growth he'd gone through to become a better, stronger "person". And as a much older person myself from the one who first watched Adventure back in 2000 and had gone through her own growing pains over the years, how could I not appreciate that?

Thanks for the opportunity to enter this way, I’m over from reddit u/danielgparedes hello !

(wow this made me dig a little deep in time and brush up on a few current things about digimon).

I’m 31, I started watching digimon at 10 when it came out in 1999. I used to watch that along with monster rancher, and escaflowne to name some other fun anime on Fox Kids. I thoroughly enjoyed season 1, 2, and tamers. while still young I did see the Digimon movie at some point, and tried frontier almost till the end but after that I did not continue to watch digimon. Not sure why.

Fast forward to when digimon tri hit the US, I think because of Crunchy Roll, I watched those and it was incredible to finally see the other ultimates from the original trainers finally transform to mega!

I am looking forward to Last adventure Kizuna! It’s sad to think that the digimon team is legitimately bringing the original series to a close BUT like many great anime, (here’s looking at Cowboy Beebop) if it has a sad “real” ending, I think it can make it so much more emotional and memorable if not that’s ok, keep the OG team going! Haha. I enjoyed the trailer, and a Agumon’s personality and voice always get me. How innocent and pure he seems but man has he seen and experienced a lot throughout his life!

I could say more but I’ll end here. Thanks again for the opportunity to participate and actually for the ability to make me think back and remember of some fond childhood memories.

We’re the results of the contest ever announced?

Waiting for some people to respond to emails to confirm if they want their prizes or not.

The most recent message said they'd have a few days before I moved on to the next people down the list.

Is there/was there an announcement of winners?
