A few different card game updates for today!

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with card previews from Booster Set 4 Great Legend. This time it's new cards of members of the D-Brigade: Commandramon and Sealsdramon!

Both cards feature them in the midst of action scenes with the quality of art we've come to expect from the Digimon Card Game. The new Commandramon card means he's shown up 3 times in the card game so far, not a bad show for the little guy.

We have some more previews for Booster Set 4...

cardgamer_boosterset4preview_november28_2020.jpg

The layout looks to be Card Gamer magazine (and there are clearly more cards in the layout), but from what we have so far is a clear look at 5 cards for Booster Set 4 (and the card on the upper right that we can't see looks to be BlitzGreymon based on the small bit we can see.

What we can see are cards for:
RiseGreymon
Wolfmon
MegaloGrowmon (Data)
Orochimon
Baboongamon

Just those 5 cover a wide variety of the history of the franchise, so it feels like nice choices all around. Looking forward to getting a better look at the art for those cards, plus the rest of that spread, as last time we got a look at a ton of cards from Card Gamer.

A few different people sent in the spread in a few different resolutions, but it isn't clear at the moment who it originally came from.

Digimon Card Game Booster Set 4 Great Legend is scheduled to release on December 18th

Commandramon
[When Deleted] Reveal the top 3 cards of your Deck. Play 1 Digimon revealed this way named "Commandramon" without paying its cost. Put the remaining cards to the bottom of your deck in any order

Sealsdramon
<Blocker>
[When Attacking] Lose 2 memory

RizeGreymon
[Your Turn] This digimon is also treated as a yellow Digimon
[Main] <Digi-Burst 2>: Play 1 red or yellow Tamer card with a cost of 4 or lower from your hand without paying its memory cost
[Inherited Effect] [When attacking] If you have a Tamer card in play, 1 of your opponent's Digimon gets -2000 DP for the turn

Lobomon
You may Digivolve this card from your hand onto a blue Tamer as if the Tamer were a Lv. 3 Blue Digimon

WarGrowlmon
[Main] <Digi-Burst 2>: 1 of your opponent's Digimon gets -4000 DP for the turn.
[Inherited Effect] [Your turn] If you have 3 or fewer security cards, this digimon gets +1000 DP

Orochimon
[When Digivolving] 1 of your Digimon gains <Piercing> for the turn

Baboongamon
[Main] <Digi-Burst 2>: Trigger <De-digivolve 1> on 1 of your opponent's Digimon with a Play cost of 7 or lower

I like Commandramon's effect. It sells home the "Commandramon is expendable" ideology of the D-Brigade while also playing wonderfully into Black's defensive nature.
I really like seeing another card that counts as 2 colors! I really hope yellow Growlmon means an upcoming Medieval Gallantmon but it might just be for the yellow WarGreymon.
A PENDULUM Z DIGIMON!!!! (its effect is kinda booty thoooo)

I'm personally most excited for the D-Brigade stuff, so since I don't have much to say about the other cards here aside from RizeGreymon, I'm just gonna skip over them.
Commandramon is a neat card. The effect definitely feels like it's referencing the fact that Commandramon has appeared three separate times now and as a result you can play up to 12 Commandramon in a deck now, but it also plays wonderfully with Darkdramon, as Commandramon can replace itself, ideally with another copy of the BT-4 version here so it can continue to do so on following turns, as that's a nice way to ensure you can keep dumping D-Brigades into the Trash for Darkdramon.
Statistically, Sealsdramon is identical to the box standard Blocker we've seen in every color since the beginning, except Black. Kinda ironic that the color focused on Blockers took this long to get their own version of the standard Lv4 Blocker, as Promo Chrysalimon, BT-2 Guardromon, and ST-5 DarkTyrannomon don't meet that criteria for one reason or another. Anyways, while it being Black's version of the standard Blocker limits what I have to say about it in a broader sense, I do think it's actually very nice to have this in the D-Brigade deck, again due to its interaction with Darkdramon. The thing about Darkdramon is that while it's very nice to recycle used resources, returning 5 D-Brigades to the top of your deck also kinda limits your future, as if your opponent is able to come back from a Darkdramon push, you could be in a rather awkward position considering you'd have to draw those five cards before getting to any new ones, so the D-Brigade having a defensive option to return as a Plan B in case things go poorly is nice to have in my opinion.
BT-4 RizeGreymon here is a very interesting card for a number of reasons. For one, it's another Multicolor Red/Yellow like Silphymon from BT-3, so that adds more consistency if you wanna splash a Lv6 from either of those colors into a deck that's predominantly one color or the other for any particular reason, be it because the Lv6 itself is good or if you simply want to play a Lv7 your color normally wouldn't have access to. The DigiBurst effect on this one is very clearly based on the RizeGreymon from BT-2, with the trade-off being the ability to play Red Tamers and Play Effects being retained, so you could use this with something like BT-1 Takeru and still get to add a card from Security. The Inheritable Effect is surprisingly flexible in both colors despite it very clearly being a "Yellow" thing. Aside from it just being a nice debuff to have in Red to ensure you can run over stuff, bonus points if you have Piercing, it also has excellent synergy with the Valkryimon family from BT-3, and to a lesser extent the Guilmon line from BT-2, as this'll help you debuff Digimon into their effect thresholds. In terms of Yellow, there's a ton of different cards that this'll work well with, so I'll keep it brief and just say this one has excellent synergy with the WarGreymon from this set, as that also has a DP Reduction effect on attack and stacking these two makes it quite a bit more likely you'll just outright delete something.
Well, now we just need to wait for Tankdramon to show up and see how it wraps the D-Brigade deck together. All of the D-Brigade cards and Chaosmon have been Rare or lower thus far, so while it certainly isn't out of the question to have Tankdramon be an SR considering RizeGreymon and Beowulfmon prove they're bringing back SR Lv5's in this set, Tankdramon would be a pretty weird candidate for that imo. So yeah, seems like the D-Brigade is gonna be a pretty budget friendly deck, and it's nice to have decks like that exist in the game even if they're not the absolute best considering not everyone is gonna have the budget to double-down on Super Rares and Secret Rares.

I love the interaction of the Commandramon in that art.

I'm also happy to see Orange Megalo and Baboongamon getting a card. Now I wonder if Gogmamon will appear both in the Vritramon card and in its own card.

That Rize Greymon is really interesting, they really want to power up the Shine Greymon deck.

I wish the Blue Flare gang (Greymon2010, Mailbirdramon, Deckerdramon, etc) were part of the D Brigade so it wasn’t just a single line. Still seems like a fun mechanic.

this Commandramon seems like it has roleplay flavor from so many angles! I mentioned how the D-Brigade sees Commandramon as expendable and replaceable and how the effect reflects that but as MechaMadness pointed out, there have been 3 Commandramon cards printed and, if you look at the artwork, there happens to be 3 Commandramons in the art. And as Momentai mentioned, they're interacting with eachother like they're working together! I also totally forgot Commandramon also have cloaking cabilities that turn them invisible so that might be how one just suddenly shows up on the battlefield, it was there hidden as backup!
My appreciation for how in character this card is keeps increasing the more I think about it

Initially when I saw Commandramon again I was disappointed but the fact that his ability is blatantly meant for swarming the multiple variants of himself rescued it for me. He can practically do Rookie-Rush all by himself lol.

Sealsdramon I have less to say about other than he looks cool and having another Blocker in Black is always good since that appears to be shaping up to be their niche thanks to things like Craniummon.

Didn't expect Commandramon to get more cards. And finally Baboongamon gets a card. Took long enough to get a card itself since Gogmamon revealed only on Vitramon's artwork background card. So I can't wait to see all new ones from Pendulum Z series to get all cards!

MegaloGrowmon Data... Wow that is nice surprise.

Oh right, there were some more cards. Didn't see those.

Is RizeGreymon the first non-Jogress card to get a Multi-Colour effect? Regardless, Marcus' ability being non-colour specific suddenly makes more sense when you're running a Red/Yellow Greymon deck.

Not much to say about Lobomon other than he's a Blue Agnimon which was to be expected. Orochimon we were expected because of Nidhoggmon but a one-time Piercing is certainly nothing to sneeze at. Orange WarGrowlmon as a 'mon is just whatever but the card's effect is pretty decent.

Lastly we have Baboongamon which is a pleasant surprise. Considering Gogmamon appeared in the art of Vritramon's card it makes me wonder if there's some kind of rivalry between this line and the Spirit Digimon. Anyway, the baboon's effect is kinda okay if highly situational.

Orange Megalo! Nice, does that mean Medievaldukemon or are we getting something else to cap it with?
