Card Game Booster Set 16 Beginning Observer on December 23rd & Limited Card Set 2 Death-X-mon in November

We have the first information for Digimon Card Game Booster Set 16.

As always with super early information take it with a grain of salt.



The 16th booster will be called "Beginning Observer" and will be released on December 23rd, 2023.


No details except the name and date for now, although based on the name the obvious choice would be a set based on Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.


Hopefully more details (and possibly a sales sheet) soon.




In addition, we have the name and release period for the 2nd Limited Card Set.

It will start showing up in November (likely at events) before being sold elsewhere later, and will be themed after Death-X-mon.





Booster Set 15 Exceed Apocalypse is out September 29th, 2023.
Starter Deck 17 Advanced Deck Double Typhoon is out November 24th, 2023.

Huh, I kind of figured they'd just shove Death-X into a set at some point - it's pretty easy to just go DORU, DXDORUga, DXDORUgure, DXDORUgora, DX - but on the other hand, it's the kind of thing that would lend itself better to an archetype in its own right with the issue that that wouldn't be nearly enough support for it.

Exclusivly for the movie wouldn't be much content so it'll prob still have seekers as a sub theme (Leon and Tartarus) and also pull from 02 with stuff like arukenimon (we already had two 02 themed sets so other than ukkomon this may prove to be a repetitive set)

I saw someone say the Dexmon set might be Seekers themed with Tartarus as the Tamer which would be interesting

I’m surprised that now that we have Loogamon there hasn’t been a serious push for DeathX Loogamon and Ryuudamon if for nothing else than to make a card game archetype.

I'm looking forward to this. A The Beginning themed set was always high on my wishlist, as expected as it was. I hope the set has some nice callbacks to 02 as well.

isn't Death-X-Mon also one of the strongest cards in competitive? Giving it more support sounds potentially scary

Most players want him banned and he gets banned in the special rule tournies so I dunno why they doesn't extend to regular rules. So yeah it's pretty much the most busted Digimon and even Bandai know since he's banned on certain formats.

yeah, that's how I remember it being last time I checked but I didn't want to accidentally sound too dramatic :x
Hopefully this Death-X doesn't synergize with the old Death-X and hopefully some players don't get bitter seeing it again
