Card Game Adventure 02: The Beginning Promo Pack Images, plus Event Winner Cards

It had been hinted at for awhile, and we formally found out about the Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning promo pack a few days ago when they announced card stuff for new events.

We have clean images of all 14 cards from the pack!

The pack features 14 cards, the 7 Digimon from the movie and the 7 kids.

Each is a new promo card.
The Digimon features a mix of new and old art (V-mon is promo art from The Beginning, and Ukkomon is art we haven't seen before for example.)
The art for the kids uses Kizuna artwork for the 6 02 kids, and new art of Lui (we saw this art a bit early on a promotional poster in China a few weeks ago.)

We knew there were 14 cards in the set, so pretty obvious choices.

At a few different upcoming card game events there will also be 02: The Beginning themed winners card.

Winners at the Tamer Battle events (and via a second chance lotto) will get a new promo card featuring Imperialdramon: Dragon Mode, and it's an Ace card. It features new anime style art of Imperialdramon, styled very much like his old anime profile art, and has an energy Fighter Mode behind him.

Winners at the EX events (and via a second chance lotto) will get a new promo card featuring V-mon. This is the Japanese version of a recent V-mon promo parallel card that was given away in the US.



Some early 02: The Beginning cards for promos is nice. It feels like they are saving new art of the kids for when we get more movie themed cards.

This seems completely unessesary and unneeded when BT-16 is for the movie. It's just gonna be these same 14 characters again in BT16

Nice to have confirmation on Ukkomon's classifications: Child-level Free-attribute Ancient Fairy-type.

It seems very similar to the 02 partners in that regard, which should've been expectantly obvious in hindsight.

Jeeze, I wish we hadn’t seen it. That Ukkomon art is quite possibly the worst piece of official Digimon artwork I’ve ever seen. It almost looks like they cut and pasted various selections of stock art to make it look like it’s laughing instead of drawing it from scratch.

I still feel like it's a missed opportunity for the Reference Book and Card Game not to officially canonize ringless Tailmon as a Child-level variant. At least it managed to show up again in the Vital Bracelet.

Weirdly enough it's not their Kizuna versions but the versions from The Beginning wearing their clothes from Kizuna. The reason I mention this is that the Kari here has the ponytail, whilst the art from Kizuna this is based on doesn't have one. In the new movie meanwhile, and this card art, she now has a ponytail.



heres the art from Kizuna, which does not have the pony tail. Maybe at some point they wear their Kizuna outfits in the new movie? regardless, they went out their way to add the ponytail from the new movie to this art.

Must not have been around when they did the original X run, about half the Reference Book artworks from that era are absolutely unforgivable sins, and we're still stuck with those ones.

I don't. Especially as a Shakkoumon evolution, since Shakkoumon fits really well as Black/Yellow.

We dont even know if the jogresses forms are going to evolve into ultimate/mega lvl. And if that is the case, despite Vikemon being in the vital bracelet and being the "original" mega form of Shakoumon, we already have Vikemon as gomamon mega form in that same universe. Having not two, but three (since this time it would involve two digimons bc of jogress) tamers with Vikemon as partner in the same universe would be... a little weird.

It's also a lot about armoring and metal, and like, Armadimon's entire line is well armored, and its "main form" - that is, the one that'd be getting the ACE card whenever we get an 02 set - is Shakkoumon who's made of metal.

EDIT: Oh right and Ankylomon and Shakkoumon are both Metal Empire.
