It's so cool. I prefer this with agumon line than armadimon.

Reminds me how it took nearly 20 years for Brachiomon to be able to evolve to UltimateBrachiomon lmao. He can do it a second time now I guess

Wasn't the previous Brachiomon card red though? Just checked and yeah, it was:

This card artwork sure is nice and very friendly and gentle digimon.

I noticed this head shape is totally Agumon while having Greymon stripes...

Randomies sure make me happy.

It's slightly less random in the fact that Digimon fusion did use brachiomon in a few episodes. They were Dorbickmon's minions which is possibly why the first one was a red card even with this one not being red.

Your mention of Greymon stripes reminds me of the fact I continue to be annoyed at the colour swap to make it match Greymon as the original design in world 1 was coloured grey not orange

It's still funny to me how Brachimon is considered a water Digimon and its attacks are bubbles. I remember finding out about it in Digital Card Battle, but back then I figured that might have been a retcon to pad out the Ice type list, because they also changed BlueMeramon into an ice type, when it's canonically just a Meramon burning at hotter temperatures.

Anyway, one more blue card to go. Feeling it might be Cyberdramon 2010.

Speaking of which, is this Glacial Time Zone in the art?
The colours seem to line up.
Could just be a generic swamp I guess.

Well, BlueMeramon always did use ice attacks, even in Digimon World.

Was it ever explained why this guy has mouth stitches?

Not that I know, but it's a popular early digimon aesthetic.

My theory is the wanted to mimic plushies whose mouths are also pronounced by similair stitching work.

Brachimon is a Deep Savers digimon because the running theory for like a century is that sauropods could only have supported their own massive bulk if they lived semi-aquatically in rivers or beaches. That's obviously something we don't consider true anymore, but Digimon's used inspiration from paleo-theory that's both older and more modern.

Was it ever explained why this guy has mouth stitches?
Same reason Meramon does, I guess.

BlueMeramon has been ice themed since its debut in 1999, the temperature bit came 16 years later and isn't reflected in any of its attacks. Design-wise it's marrying the concepts of blue flames and ice burns as an associative pun.

Brachimon's a plesiosaur in the shape of a brachiosaurus, originally referencing how sauropods are associated with water, and the bubbles play into that while referencing its nature as a gentle giant.

I can't recall even a single Digimon having their stitched mouths explained, or really any of the other intentionally grotesque details that just serve as part of the design aesthetic in mostly older Digimon. My obviously serious headcanon is that someone uploaded a burned copy of Hocus Pocus to the internet and Digimon keep scavenging data derived from Billy.

True. I must have mixed up the first BlueMeramon card predating Digimon World 1. In DW1 BlueMeramon has a mix of fire and water type moves, while most following games categorize it as a fire type defensively while having a water type move (next to fire type moves) as it's signature.

Nope. Not even a single explanation. Like famous traits of Digimon helmets come in many shapes, vague tattoos/markings, belts, etc. But I'm sure they will never give us any explanation even if it's Life Profile report updates...

Brachiomon having a water attacks always sat well with me for the in part because I like it as an evolution for Armadillomon, whose ties to Gomamon tend to put him in the same realm.
