Blucomon & Regalecusmon Previews for Booster Set 10

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with a card preview from Booster Set 10 Xros Encounter. This time it's Blucomon & Regalecusmon.

Blucomon makes another appearance with Penguinmon, this time both of them looking at an aurora. Then Regalecusmon gets a really nice painted style artwork with a wave crashing behind him.

So some randoms in the XW set. If they were gonna have some randoms, I would've liked to see new Digimon rather than repeats. They're also really blasting through these card reveals.

Blucomon is the first Rookie that takes memory to digivolve, surely that's gotta be a misprint especially with it being a vanilla. Unless they plan to make all Rookies from now on take memory... but that's not the case cuz Shoutmon, Starmon etc in this set take 0 memory. I'm gonna expect an errata like when they messed up that Sangloupmon card. If this isn't a misprint... it's the worst card in the game by far cuz you don't pay memory for any other Rookies...

You're ignoring that Blucomon has 5000 DP.

The majority of Lv.3 cards have 1000~3000 DP, while the majority of Lv.4 cards have 3000~6000 DP.

Maybe I'm trying to inject flavor where there is none, but I wonder if Regalecusmon effect is a reference to it's profile, about how it "assaults and plunders" feeding ground and territories of other digimon. Although the profile describes it as an aloof digimon that hates crowds, and bringing it's evolution sources out to team up wouldn't quite fit.

Hmmm, I guess that could be a fair point but I don't really think that'd be that much use 5000DP even on a Rookie isn't really going to do much for you and probably will die to most things in security so I think if it were me I'd rather just use any other Rookie and then evolve to a Champion that has 5000 which would probably be for 2 memory, or 3 with an effect I don't really see why this needs to be a thing but maybe it'll be the best Rookie ever

Seeing Regalecusmon in booster 10 makes me think of what it be like if he was in the Bagra Army instead of Neptunemon, just a thought.

I agree with Muur. I see some randoms tend to be repeats with new different artworks per booster series. It's not good to delay with repeating for the new digimon card game....

Some Rookies do require memory. The 2 play, 2 Digivolve has been used before for Rookies with high attack IIRC. Basically a risk reward. You don't get the benefit of a free Digivolve and card draw, which you may want depending on the situation, but 5000 DP for 2 Play is pretty good. Besides attacking, it also helps insulates the Rookie from DP based deletion effects.

Other Rookies have 1 Digivolve cost, which is also good if you're playing a Memory Control deck.

I think the trade-off there is that he's more to Play but less to Digivolve.
So again there's a situational risk reward factor.
If you were playing say, a Rookie Rush deck, a 2 Digivolve cost wouldn't be such a big deal, especially if you have plenty of other options.
The 2 Play would more often than not be more convenient.
I mean, not that I'm the biggest expert on the meta or anything, but that's what I reckon.

I used to play a rookie rush deck with the BT-4 Liollmon, and it worked pretty well. It was insulated against common counters at the time like Volcanicdramon,

Blucomon is a bit of an odd choice to do in this set. They're clearly not re-doing his main evolution line as we already know there will only be two blue megas: Regalecusmon & Cannondramon (well unless a red & blue ZekeGreymon sneaks it's way into the red section of the card list).

Might be a stand alone card, but if they're covering the Blizzard Fang dim card versions of Hyogamon & Moosemon would be welcome imo.
