Asuramon & PileVolcamon Previews for Booster Set 10

The Digimon Card Game Twitter has updated with a card preview from Booster Set 10 Xros Encounter. This time it's Asuramon & PileVolcamon.

We get a fiery duo today! Asuramon appears to have just blown past a familiar opponent after taking a few different swings at them. PileVolcamon is striking a fiery victory pose that's reminiscent of his profile art.

With PileVolcamon's increase in appearances, I wonder if they look at his profile and remember there's supposedly 5 more Ultimate Volcamons. Typing this, it'd be funny if one of them is simply UltimateVolcamon.

Kinda odd how there's 2 red Asuramon's by now, but no purple one as a tie-in between Musyamon and Zanbamon.

By the looks of it they're trying to release some more thematic support for the Jesmon & Gankoomon starter deck, but given how bland these two cards seem at least from my normie perspective, I'm not sure they improve the deck by much.

Kinda odd how there's 2 red Asuramon's by now, but no purple one as a tie-in between Musyamon and Zanbamon.

Maybe because Vajramon is the one that's supposed to fill that gap, not Asuramon who has no relation to samurai/swords.

But joking aside, that comment was half intended as a joke, and while I'm sure they'll fill that seven out eventually (they're bound to) it's not really something likely to have had anywhere near finished designs for all of them that they're waiting to unveil.

I don't expect the remaining ones to already be designed or even to debut close to one another. But now that Pile is being used regularly as Volcamon's Ultimate (Ancient being more tied to Earth Hybrids), it would be nice to see a new Volcamon debut once every few years.

Seems to be a scene depicting at least two Golemon falling while being hit by Asura Shinken, the fire fists technique that Asuramon uses when it has it's face of wrath at the front. But from a pov behind the Golemon's back so we can get a better sense of intensity of Asuramon torpedoing through them like nothing. Is a very cinematic scene.

Oh yeah I remember this. I was shocked to learn AncientVolcamon wasn't part of famous Volcamon's seven evolution... Then I forgot it already...

It makes sense, as Ancient is supposed to be extinct. But it wouldn't surprise me if it gets folded into the "group". Getting 6 new 'mons intead of 5 is also good. I think we have enough ultimate Greymons that the Volcamons wouldn't overshadow them, so they can actually do it, lol.

Yeah, that was the implication with BT-05 and while it is a valid option in the sea of choice in digimon evolution, Asuramon is still just one small step away from being considered the canonic link between Musyamon & Zanbamon, sword or no sword.

The connection between Musyamon and Asuramon goes way back to day #1 when both of them were introduced on Digital Monster Ver. Wonderswan, where they replaced Ogremon and Andromon in the Vpet 3.0 line, as if to imply they're part of a canonic evolution line. + both of them are demon man (JP) or wizard (EN) type digimon and the resemblance is pretty obvious.

Zanbamon came a year later. It's worth noting Ver. Wonderswan was released prior to mega being a thing, so Zanbamon returning to the samurai style might have been an afterthought and given he was introduced in 2000 it's likely the idea for him was to warp digivolve from Musyamon, much like how Agumon & Gabumon digivolve to their mega forms which hold less resemblance to their ultimate forms than their rookies.
