Frontier Blu-ray Box Packaging Preview, Plus New Details

Time for another Frontier BD-Box preview!

    Image Thumbnail (custom)

Just a little over a month to go until the release of the Digimon Frontier Blu-ray Box!

This time we get a preview of the entire Blu-ray box package since a few stores put up images. We get to see more finalized versions of a number of things we've seen before, plus a handful of new things!

The outer and inner boxes we've detailed as they've shown up prior, but Frontier character design Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru did a fantastic job on them.

The overall layout is as expected for all 3 boxes. The one noticeable thing based on a comparison to the Tamers BD-Box, is that 'Digimon Frontier' is formatted the same on all 3 boxes here (on the inner boxes for Tamers, the two words in the title were stacked on eachother, while on the main box it was laid out flat.)

Update- A few more images for the outer box...

First up, an image showing both sides as it'll appear on the actual box. Then we have good quality (but not high resolution) clean images of the art from both sides of the box.

The new stuff includes a look at the Blu-ray discs themselves, which we haven't seen at all up to this point.

The theme matches what the Tamers set did, which is use the character art from the outer box on each disc, themeing it to the character with their D-Scanners. The last two discs are themed after the D-Scanner 2.0s that Takuya and Kouji get later in the series, and use the standard profile art of KaiserGreymon and MagnaGarurumon.

The case for the audio drama uses the artwork of the kids from the main box, with a yellow border. The disc is yellow and has silhouetes of the new art of the kids, their main Digimon forms, and Bokomon and Neemon.

The booklet included with the Blu-ray box has a fun design based on Bokomon's book, which is a fun touch to the series. The booklet won't contain (much? any?) new content, but will be material from the 2007 DVD-Box booklets: Memories of Digimon Frontier and Digimon Frontier TrailFan.

It's a good looking package for Frontier fans. It's also fun how it continues on the various design and style themes that begun with the Adventure and 02 boxes, had unique twists in the Tamers box, and furthers with some of it's own twists based on that.

Pre-orders are available for the Digimon Frontier Blu-ray box. It will be available April 2nd, 2019 for 53,800 yen. Early versions of the box will include the new Frontier audio drama: (Affiliate link)

We hope to do a breakdown of this release like we do for many media releases, including last year's Digimon Tamers Blu-ray Box. If you are able to, donating or joining our Patreon can be a big help.

I'm so in love with how all the collection looks like. The booklet based on Bokomon's Book of Knowledge is really a cool touch indeed. AAlso quite a fan of all the CDs collection pattern following all the D-Scanner versions in the series (isn't the one for Kouchi too dark?). By the way, the artwork for KaiserGreymon & MagnaGarurumon is somehow new too or just the regular one?

Unless it was redrawn, that's the same Toei art from before.
