Thread: Would Visual Novel (VN) format works for Digimon?

  1. #1

Cool Would Visual Novel (VN) format works for Digimon?

For those who don't know what VN is, go here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_novel

I'm just wondering, would VN format goes well with Digimon? VN doesn't necessarily have to be dating sim game (although i think most popular one are), and since Digimon isn't exactly a franchise about romance stories, maybe it could work. Though since Digimon nowadays tends to aims at older fanbase, a dating sim VN Digimon game might not be too bad of an idea, don't you think?

After thinking more about it, the choice making aspect of VNs could work for Digimon, especially for something like branched evolution path or something like an all series Digimon game. For evolution path, certain route will result in certain evolution path, for example Royal Knight route, Olympos 12 route, Seven Great Demon Lords route, etc. For all series Digimon game, your choice will determine which series you'll partake in (Adevnture/02/Tamers/etc.). What do you think?

yeah, since Digimon is putting more effort in making more and more animated games such as Cyber Sleuth & Hackers Memory why not?
I'd love to see a digi-destined dating game with digidestined across all seasons available to match e.g. Mimi from Adventure with Koichi from Frontiers etc
as for different routes, unfortunately the Royal Knight/7 Great Demon Lords have already been done (check out Cyber Sleuth) but Olympus 12 would be nice

Heck, i'd even love for a fanmade VN game where your custom character can woo any of CC/tamers in a fictional highschool setting or something like a certain fanmade VN game of "neighbor franchise".

Digimon Story and Digimon Savers:Another Mission actually did SGDL story first, there's also SGDL arc in Reigitize Decode as well (there're some smartphone games too, but probably they're not noticable enough for most fans), so i don't think them being in CS would stop bandai from incorporating them majorly in future games.

i do like some VNs, not the dating variant though, i can see some scenarios where a VN style could fit, you could have some kinda Zero Escape/Danganronpa/SteinsGate setting in which the team is trapped by a digimon, something like Nanomon, though an original villain would probably be the best.

If we're talking about Dragon Rompus, then yeah. A digimon version could work. ...I wonder if someone who knows both could do fun fanart of the CCs as characters from Dangerous Roomba. ...Also a Dating Sim would be hilarious. ...! Cross between a Dating Sim and a standard Digimon game. You pick a Mon, help get it stronger then once you reach Mega or a final stage you get the important kiss scene ending. with patch for Steam for much more
