Digivolving Spirits AtlurKabuterimon Packaging & Art Visual Collecton Returns

A few product updates tonight, timed to coincide with around noon on the day tri. finishes up...



First up, a look at the packaging for Digivolving Spirits AtlurKabuterimon.


The box for the figure, like previous releases, features fantastic new artwork from Kenji Watanabe.

The red is really vivid and stands out, but perhaps the two most noticeable things on this box are:
1- The Diecast Evolution badge being moved, likely to not cove up AtlurKabuterimon's horn.
2- This is the first time we've seen the new blue Bandai Spirits logo used on a Digivolving Spirits box instead of the standard red.

It's nice to get what appears to be a near final design for our first look.




AtlurKabuterimon will be released September 2018 for 7,200 yen and is currently up for pre-order at CDJapan at a decent discount: (affiliate link)

We're 2 weeks away from Digivolving Spirits Angewomon! The figure is officially out on May 19th in Japan. US stock will ship in July. Details and additional images of the figure can be found here. The figure will be 6,500 yen, but is also discounted from CDJapan.

The Digimon Adventure tri. Art Visual Collection returns yet again!


These are super high end posters that are exclusive to the Toei Store.


They are each large A3 size (11.7 x 16.5 inches) prints of the poster done with a high end 8 color process.

Each comes already in a handmade wooden frame with backing board which increases the size to 15.5 x 20 inches.

With the newest update the theatrical posters for Parts 5 and 6 are added to the pre-existing choices of Parts 1 thru 4 and the train car art.


These were previous listed at 30,240 yen each, but the price may have gone up, because now each is signed by Uki Atsuya.

The reason we aren't sure at the moment is Toei blocks overseas users from even seeing the store. We will update details when/if we can.

I'd say that's probably a safe bet. We've been seeing a more complete version of Dukemon for longer now, plus we may be looking at a trend of alternating between the Adventure partners and other characters. That's how releases 02-06 and likely 07 have been, at least. Patamon would be the logical next one, since he was on that "who's next?" teaser.

MegaKabuterimon's box color should be purple to match Izzy's Crest of Knowledge. WarGreymon's box color is orange because it matches Tai's Crest of Courage. MetalGarurumon's box color is blue because it matches Matt's Crest of Friendship. Angewomon's box color is pink because it matches Kari's Crest of Light. So why is Mega Kabuterimon's box color red?

Agumon and WarGreymon both have yellowy oranges, so they went with a yellowy orange for the box.
Gabumon and MetalGarurumon both have blue, so blue.
Diablomon is purple, and Keramon is a purpley-blue, so they went with purple.
Angewomon and Tailmon both have pink as highlight colors (Angewomon's sash and Tailmon's paws), so they went with pink.
Alphamon is black with gold highlights and Dorumon is purple, his box is purple with gold highlights.

Tentomon and AtlurKabuterimon are both very red, their box is red.



MetalGarurumon and Angewomon both have box colors roughly what you would expect if it was crest colors, but the Crest of Courage is normally a bolder orange color than the very yellowy orange used on it's box.


I'd take it that the choice was always based on what color works best as a solid background for the Digimon, rather than a crest color, and that the first 3 Adventure partner's simply ended up somewhat close to crest colors.

It's also worth mentioning that purple tends to clash very badly with objects where reds are the most dominant colour. Colours like blue or navy (or greens) tend to work better with reds of most shades. (and Altur's secondary colours are navy and the off-white/greyish colour).

When it comes to the packaging design, it could be that purple was used on mockup versions but when placed beside the mockup with the red backgound (and whatever other mockup packages they had printed and assembled), it just didn't work out.

This is a fantastic looking model, i think it is the best one so far especially the artwork, very colourful!
