I think the artstyle emphasizing the metallic of the armor, the fact that the rear legs have armor too now and the eyes being small, giving a statue vibe. And the "horse pose" is how the cloth is in totem form on the last few versions of it.

Tyranomon to Examon is fitting to me because they're big red lizards and I like irony of a small Digimon evolving to Examon.

Despite the popular thought that they are, koalas aren't actually bears - so Belphemon X isn't a bear. I mean I will still call them Koala bears due to muscle memory as the only reason I knw they aren't bears now is that someone on the Digimon Reddit did a big essay about the fact that Belphemon isn't a bear.

Sleep mode sleeps all the time cuz It's a koala I thought and its pre-evovlved form Phascomon has attacks relating to the Eucalyptus which Koalas eat. I think the full evo line is supposed to be koalas. Phascomon also lives in trees

Phascomon is certainly a koala, but I've never thought of Belphemon as one. To me he looks like a bear with goat horns.

Perhaps Bandai themselves thought koalas are bears, which leads to the koala of Sleep Mode turning into a giant pissed off bear.

Without the context of Sleep mode perhaps I wouldn't see Rage Mode as a Koala, but my mind can't see it as anything else due to being used to Sleep Mode and Phascomon (also Astamons mask)

Belphemon Sleep Mode don't have Koala nose? I felt like Sleep Mode is more of fluffy goat baby with bear hibernation function.

It's about all japanese markings! Plus I used Chronomon's sun marking as Amaterasu to connect with all japanese evo line. Shame Reppamon didn't have any marking but at least Reppamon got Tao symbol, mask and wooden knots...

Or it's just you projecting because Digimon never worked that way. Only because Armadimon is clearly an armadillo that doesn't mean Bandai thinks ankylosaurs are armadillos.
