Adventure & Gild Design Duralumin Card Case Details, Pre-Orders Open

We only found out about this a few days ago!

This is officially known as the "Digimon Adventure Duralumin Card Case."

It's a special item being made for Digimon's 20th Anniversary, and the first entry in the 4-Part Premium Art Series, also being referred to as special Digimon art items.

The item is a collaboration with GILD Design, known as a maker of motorbike parts and their work with the metal being used in the cases, duralumin, which is an alloy of aluminum and copper.

The artwork for the cases are illustrations by longtime Digimon designer Kenji Watanabe.

Two versions will be made, Tyranomon and MetalGreymon.

The colors of the cases were meant to match the colors of the Digimon themselves.

The cases are high end business card holders, designed to open via a sliding mechanism that has a 'scoop' at the end to help slide out the business cards. The overall design is meant to allow a Digimon fan to have a high class item that can fit in properly during a business situation.

Each case weights about 2.2 ounces and is made with a higher quality version of duralumin known as A2017 which is used in making aviation and space parts. They also say this version of duralumin has a high class feel.

To allow the cases to have easier movement of the slider, they are using 3mm micro bearings made by NSK Micro-Precision Co.

The cases themselves are roughly 2.44 x 4.33 x .35 inches and are able to hold 20 cards that are roughly 3.58 x 2.16 inches and printed on .25mm thick cardstock.

Each case also includes a bonus item!

A small shikishi board of the Tyranomon artwork

The art looks fantastic, on both the cases and the board.

Update- There is only one shikishi board, Tyranomon.

Pre-orders are open now at the Premium Bandai store for 13,824 yen and close on July 31st. The cases are scheduled to ship around September.

The other 3 items in the Premium Art Series are scheduled to be revealed at the end of July, August, and September.

You'll want to contact an intermediary to get these items sent to you. WtW is not affiliated with any, but here are a selection of intermediaries that have worked well for various WtWers and their friends in the past:
    From Japan
    Rider Proxy
    Japan Hero

The Bandai Premium store has also chosen to affiliate themselves/recommend three potential shops to be used as intermediaries for non-Japanese buyers:
From Japan (this From Japan link shows various items that they waive commission fees for.)
    Samurai Buyer

You'll want to provide your chosen intermediary with the link to the item. Just copy paste the link to the product pages for what you want and send them a message about it and they'll take care of it after they discuss pricing and their policies with you. The links embedded in the news article for the products are exactly what you'll need to send them.

Some of the intermediaries have a full storefront and may have the item listed, so you may want to check that first.

Imagine them being Nintendo 3DS designs. What I thought when I first looked at them. That would be dope.

That artwork is amazing. Red's my favourite colour, but MetalGreymon's my favourite Digimon, so I'd have a hard time choosing between them. 98 for a business card holder is a bit much though :/
