After a bit of work me and lost have finished a few forum upgrades.
Minus a few forum hiccups happening hopefully no obvious problems cropped up.
Two changes were made, one that is small and will be obvious to most users, the other is large, but will be invisible to most users.
First up... the small one.
On the occasions that we (or others) repost Japanese locked Youtube promotional videos, we use DailyMotion. The embed code that we had for it was quite old and had no options beyond Flash. This is why we've traditionally added a link underneath DailyMotion videos, since any browsers that didn't have Flash would see nothing
We've been able to replace that with HTML5 code that should work in any reasonably recent browser and device.
Embedded the recent tri. Parts 1 thru 3 digest so everyone can try it out.
Now, for the bigger one.
We've setup https for the forum and set it so you'll automatically be pushed to the https version of the forum. Old links will work fine and reroute you to the secure version, so there won't be any linking/url issues like when we moved from SMF to vB4 almost 5 years ago.
The transition in fact should be largely invisible to everyone, minus the lock icon your browser uses.
The only stuff that should be unsecure are any remote content (as an example, embedded off-forum images.) Future gallery and image embeds I do for the news will be https also, but old ones aren't (can't force embeds to do it properly), so your browser may let you know there is some unsecure content on pages (and obviously any images you guys embed will depend on your own embeds.)
We believe we've found all the little images around the site and made sure they are the https versions, but if you notice anything (or have any questions), let us know.
Also, in regards to a Chrome issue some people have reported. The baseline 'stable' version of Chrome should have the fixes for this in the next couple weeks.
If you are able to, please donate, so that we can get upcoming Digimon items for the site (we also need to test to make sure Paypal updates donator's status on the forum.)
Also, me and lost will be livestreaming some games on Sunday for anyone who wants to watch and ask us any questions. At the moment we plan to start at 1pm (Pacific.)
