What Digivice would you like to have?

I know for a fact that this thread has to have been made sometime in the past. But I can't seem to find it anywhere on the forums when I searched past threads & I'm surprised.

Anyway, like there's a bunch of threads that ask which Digimon you'd like to be partnered w/, this one is about which Digivice you would like to use w/ said partner. It can be from any of the anime, games, & manga.

Tell why you prefer it over the others. You can also be creative & say where you got it from (gifted by legendary beings, manmade, etc.) & what color it would be. And explain any of the extra items it may have w/ it (D-Power: what cards you'd use, D-Tector: what Spirits you'd have, Data Link: what color your DNA Charge is, etc.).

As for me, I've narrowed it down to 2 & still can't seem to decide. I'll post back on this later when I have an answer.

Hm. Data Link and D-Ark are the two choices I've narrowed down to. I haven't seen Xros Wars and probably won't for a very long time, if ever, so I only have 5 choices, really.

It's going to have to be D-Ark. First, its design. It looks more like an accessory than the newer versions, which look more like gadgets (sort of like using an iPhone as a digivice to me). Because it looks more like an accessory, like the D-2 design, to me that feels like it's a portal, or a medium, towards digivolution. I attribute this to be relative dominance of the screen in relation to the rest of the body, while the D-3, Data Link and the D-Scanner all have relatively small screens to the body.

Then when it glows, it looks more like the whole thing is glowing instead of just... looking like a flashlight. It's more magical that way.

But D-Ark shines (no pun intended) also because of how much you can do with it. The Card Slash function is the coolest of any digivice, and it has a holographic digimon analyzer! If I were to have a D-Ark it would have to be Ruki's. This is partly due to aesthetics, and partly due to identification with the character. I like Green, but I don't identify with Jenrya at all, so I can't see myself having his digivice.

If I could make my own digivice, it would be silver body with cerulean, indigo, navy, forest green, rose, or maroon. I like cool, dark colors that don't fall exactly on the primary colors. Primary colors are boring.

As for what cards I'd use, I imagine it's pretty generic: Whatever does the job best. However, I love collecting cool digimon, so I wouldn't put it past me to totally abuse the slippery slope and make my digimon borrow other digimon's attacks. It'd just be cool, like having them all at once.

I think I'd stick with a Data Link (note, I've only watched like a few episodes of season 5, so I know just about... not much about it... :P). I've always wanted a D-Power, but now I can just always see the possibilities with having a Data Link and what the Data Link could do in the future. I've always felt that if you're scanning your DNA onto the device, and if you would have strong enough willpower, you'd be able to do whatever you wanted with it, that the possibilities were endless as long as you really wanted them. I thought there would be some possible way to transmute your DNA into raw power to use against whatever you and your partner were fighting, which could mean fighting WITH your partner, which always seemed really cool to me. I know that you can bio-merge using a D-Power, but I would think that bio-merging would be a universal thing possible with any digivice, and fighting by each others side rather than combined also seems much cooler to me.

Oh and storing your partner (as mean as it seems) in the device itself seems pretty gosh darn useful. Color of the digivice, DNA, and way it's obtained doesn't really matter to me, as long as I'd get it.

So, my answer in a nutshell is: Id take a Data Link because I feel like the DNA scanning ability could be used for much more than just digi-volution. And of course the storage thingy will be forever useful, don't want my partner being taken away as soon as I meet him/her...

Second choice would be D-Power because that card scanning ability is pretty dang badass, and it looks awesome.

D-ark is probably my favourite, but the fact that I can't load my partner into it would be so inconvenient. As we saw in that episode where Takato had to stuff Guilmon into a box. I think I would spend half my time trying to hide my Digimon. Especially since they stay in their Adult forms for a lot longer. (Although Tamers sort of forgot about that as time went on.) The Card Scanning and biomerging. I love the idea of merging with your partner. It was so immersive and empowering when I was 11 or 12. At that age I always wanted a Delumon! I don't know why of all the Digimon that was my favourite. I always imagined him evolving into Griffomon too. I guess it's not as bad as MarineAngemon who was an actual partner in the show lol

I almost said D-Scanner for the same reason as the D-ark, but there's no way I would choose to not have a partner! The Frontier Digimon are some of my favourite designs though.

I'm going to have to go with the Xros Loader. Especially in Time Hunters universe when the Clock Guy was just giving them out. I loved the idea of Digi-quartz as a digital parellel dimension that was easy to access. (I mean the Digital World is a parallel dimension but the Digi-Quartz is literally a copy of world.) My favourite Digimon was always Tamers so I like when regular kids end up becoming tamers because they love their Digimon as opposed to being chosen in a prophecy. As I mentioned early it's too convenient to store your Digimon. I can never choose my favourite Digimon. I think I love them all. I'd love to make an actual army of Digimon!! I could care less about DigiXrossing, I just want an army! Not to mention that since it was a cross over season, so maybe you coudl travel to another dimension and get another digivice or something.

I think the most appealing Digivice based purely on aesthetics is the Digimon Mini or the Digimon Twin. They're minimalistic, small, but still retain the iconic layout of the Digimon V-Pet. If you don't count those as actual Digivices (although they were used in the manga) then I'm going to have to go with the D-3 as the best looking one. However, I do still choose the Xros Loader as my most wanted Digivice. I love the musical theme. I just wish they made it in more colours. I would love a regular grey coloured Xros Loader.

Just some things I think you don't know:

The D-Power can store Digimon. That's how Guilmon was made & where he was hatched. If he was able to get out of it then it isn't impossible for one to go back in. If you watch the first episode you see Takato flipping through his Digivice w/ multiple pages saying "No Data". That to me means that Digimon can be stored but for some reason the writers completely forgot about it. I know they wanted to illustrate the "realities" of having a Digimon but if that was the case they shouldn't have had Guilmon inside the D-Power to begin w/. That just makes me think they could've avoided the whole "we gotta hide you somewhere" fiasco.

The D-Tector in Frontier shows at the end of the season that they really did have partners the whole time. They just weren't able to interact w/ them alot because they're Spirits. That's why whenever you see one of the kids talking to their Digivices the Spirit will sometimes shake their head or nod, because that's all they can do..

I love the theme of music along w/ the Xros Loader as well. I just hate its size. It's like a remote control & seems really hard to keep in your pockets w/ out it falling out. I've seen videos of people holding the toy versions & it's pretty big. These adults we're talking about too. If it were any smaller it'd be my favorite. Also, I don't think you've seen Young Hunters as there's a hunter named Ren that has a pure gray Xros Loader. Not to mention that just because a Digivice isn't a certain color in the show doesn't mean you can't imagine it to be that way for you.

I thought that when it said No Data it meant Takato couldn't find any information on Guilmon since it was created from Takato's data. No Data as in it can't find any Data and the D-ark could analyze Digimon. I think once he was hatched he couldn't go back in.

That's a good point about the Frontier Digimon. I guess the main characters we supposed to be spiritually successors to the spirits, which is why they had the Ancient Digimon seperate from Spirit Digimon. I'd feel weird with a D-Tector/Spirit because it seems too personal to the characters in Frontiers, unless it was one of the villain Spirits.

I meant I wish they sold different colours in stores. I think the only colours released were Red and Blue. I don't think we even got a black Xros Loader, although there was a DarkKnightmon Xros Loader Mini. Actually I forgot about the Xros Loader Minis. I'd probably have to go with one of those if it doesn't sund too fanfictiony. I'm just assuming it has the functions of a Xros Loader since you can Xros together in that as well.

I forgot to mention what Digimon Partner I'd have. I'd honeslty want something huge like Ceresmon or ElDoradimon to travel the Digiworld or whatever. Or something really cute and innocuous like Culumon since I'd just treat it like a pet lol.

The "No Data" thing stands out as storage to me since it was on page after page, like room in a pocket or drawer. If it were talking about Guilmon specifically, why didn't it just give the information it downloaded in order to make him in the first place?

There was a Black Xros Loader sold. I believe it was after the Red on e & before the Blue one. And yeah, they probably won't sell the other colors. What you could do is color the Digivice yourself like some people do. Course, if you do that you have to make sure you'll keep it forever as if you try to sell it people won't usually go for customized Digivices.

My personal favorite is the Japanese Digimon Adventure Yagami Taichi Digivice by far, if I could only carry one out of the near thirty virtual pets and pedometer devices in my collection it would be that one along with my official Crest and Tag.

For me, Digimon Adventure was the best, a major part of my childhood and it was probally the hardest for me to acquire aside from the Pendulum ZERO Virus Busters and Original Pendulum Keychain. Honestly, I always imagined myself carrying them all in soime way, being able to access their Growth Charts and evolve my Agumon accordingly along with the cards but that would be my overall favorite.

I had no idea it actually existed, but according to Wikimon it was a prize release from Jump Festa 11'. Which means the chances of actually finding this is pretty rare. Although awhile back I did see a chrome IC on eBay. (I can't imagine a chrome Digivice. The thumbprints would drive me insane.) I have a new holy grail!

I'll have to rewatch Tamers too.
