The title of the new series is Digimon Around. (Figure I should put this here since I thought of it, it's always possible it could be a one off movie or special, ala X-Evolution. All info most definitely points to a SERIES, but nice to cover the bases.)
It will begin airing in the spring.
The normal timeslot Digimon has is currently taken by Dragon Ball Kai. It could mean any of the following: Kai will take a break, Kai will move timeslots, Digimon will get a new timeslot, or other options I'm not thinking of at the moment.
It appears a DS and Wii game will come out while the show is airing. These games MAY be connected to the anime in some way.
The show will likely be announced at Jump Festa, or an upcoming issue of V-Jump.
One of those sites that list info on upcoming anime does indeed have Digimon Around listed, which confirms earlier information. (

The info thus far gives us enough information to 'generally' say, that YES a new show is in fact coming, and it isn't a rumor.
But it is always nice to lean a little bit on the side of 'maybe not' until we get an official announcement.
Update 1: A few listing sites removed the Around listing, and one added a message apologizing.
Not cause the news isn't true, but because the gun was jumped on putting it up, because it still is effectively at the level of 'rumor' and not 'confirmed', and the listing sites don't post this sort of thing until it's confirmed.

April 20th 2010 Update
With official sites starting to go up we also have a large shot of the promotional art that shows some better color and detail.

Also, the official romanization of the Japanese title appears to be confirmed as 'Digimon Xros Wars'
